CO-OP 0207 -- Mother Mission's Desserts -- Ghostbusters, Monkey Island(s), Space Invaders Infinity Gene

The Mission District in San Francisco is a holy place to its residents. Not merely due to the ready availability of cheap booze and burritos, but also in large part thanks to its delectible delights of deliciousness! Jason, never one to pace himself, insists on visiting each and every one in a single day. More after the show:

Ask, and ye shall receive. While we have not the power to grant boons and favors of the supernatural, we can, indeed, cover the games you wish us to cover. Ghostbusters has been a request directed at us ever since it’s release, and we’ve finally found the power-house guests necessary to give it proper due: Phil Theobald from PlayerOne Podcast along with GameSpy’s Will Tuttle and Arthur Gies of Eat. Sleep. Game. fame.

Every show seems to have a theme, whether or not we consciously intend one and with the classics being reborn around every corner, this week’s show is perhaps better themed than most. The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition is double-featured with Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1 One: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal in a blast-from-the-past especiál. Insidiously long names aside, we’re always grateful to Tiff Chow for dropping by and we’re especiál-ly glad for 1UP’s Justin Haywald making his CO-OP debut!

The final, classic-resurfaced game in this week’s show is a testament to one of the most venerable genres of software-gaming: the shooter. Yes, Space Invaders is back, in the iPhone, with an intensely aural and action-ridden experience best seen (and heard) to be believed. Space Invaders Infinity Gene may be a classic reborn, but it’s thoroughly modern in its execution and should not be overlooked!

Good episode. While I had initial concerns about it not being as game-centric as others, if making this alt-content is what keeps you from burning out, then it only makes sense that...

If I want to keep getting the current quality of content/media from CO-OP, and CO-OP producers require exploring content tangents in order to continue, then I should at the very least be accepting of them (granted if the focus was moving away from games completely, I would be a bit sad, but it's not at this time, so...). So I'm fine with it for this reason (if I was to pretend that you asked).

Plus, I actually enjoy it which helps. I do get the "hang with" vibe, which I enjoy. Keep it up guys. Listen to the feedback, because it's important, but also don't let it cause you to produce a show you don't enjoy. Right now you're either doing a good job faking or actually genuinely enjoy making the show, and this comes across in the show itself. If you ever started regretting doing the show, it wouldn't take long for it to show through and bring the show down.

Ultimately, keep doing what you like. I'm thankful that at least for now, what you enjoy making I enjoy watching, so it works out. I love that it's in HD too, so thanks. The episodes could be 900 mb and take half a day to pull down, but since it's not a manual process I have to babysit, I don't really care and can wait. Besides, I don't complain about length when I (1) am getting something for free from the source (2) my download amounts aren't (yet) capped (3) it will likely contain end-to-end content I enjoy watching. In fact, like when I'm at an all-you-can eat sushi dinner, I will always want more and never less of something that I enjoy.

I do have a request though, and no, I didn't write all of the above to preface my request with ass-kissing. Right now, your credits at the end only mention something like "music from" or something to that effect. Is there a way to include in show notes or somewhere else the names of artists, titles of the music, and their playtimes during the episode? If this is already somewhere, please educate me. I'm not asking for a soundtrack or ad or anything like that, just an easier way to find those songs. I recently (a couple posts up) asked about SGX's music. I lucked out in finding it as I wasn't sure if it was the music I was looking for since all I had to go on was the credits from the last episode. I wound up buying most of the dudes albums, which should show I'm not just looking to download a torrent of the song.

I know you're not just gushing with extra time, but it would be appreciated if possible.

Oh and Arthur - yeh to it being like M.C. Escher, but more like American Mcghee's Alice to me, which is a good thing. I miss that game.

The narrative plot of eating in mother mission while talking about gaming is fine. Recommending food is fine. But I don't watch this show to listen to you critique food, was not entertaining.

People deserve very good life and business loans or short term loan can make it much better. Because freedom is grounded on money.

I guess that to receive the credit loans from banks you must have a good reason. However, one time I have received a college loan, because I wanted to buy a bike.
