CO-OP SPECIAL -- Cesar's Tokyo Travels, GTA4: TLATD, Street Fighter 4

The new stuff this week consists of Cesar’s pretty sweet travel log of his time in Japan during TGS. Japan is certainly unique and here within are some great reasons why.

Since we’re on vacation we were struggling with what to put in a show when we’re not even supposed to have a show. The idea came up to post something most of you probably haven’t seen. Prior to CO-OP being part of the Revision3 family of programming, Area 5 produced the show solely for our YouTube channel and it was in Standard-Definition. CO-OP 0004 was a test-bed show for Revision3 where we actually produced the entire thing in HD so that they could try out their compression settings and what not in advance of our first, actual premiere on the network. Here, for the first time anywhere, along with Cesar’s Tokyo adventures from a few weeks ago are the two game segments from CO-OP 0004 in HD:

Dan Hsu may no longer maintain the Sorethumbsblog, but yeah, that’s what the titles for that section say in this episode because back when this segment was shot that was still before the launch of the awesome BitMob. Ryan and Cesar are also in this segment that talks about what makes The Lost and the Damned such a compelling bit of DLC.

Miguel Lopez now works for GameTrailers, but back when he and Ryan had this chat about Street Figher IV he was still going strong at GameSpy. In a an excellent segment that is part reminiscing about past SF glory days and part review of the latest incarnation, it’s one of the segments we are most proud of from our “Season 0” time period.

We’ll be back in full form next week with Uncharted 2, Bit Trip Void (including some awesome time we spent with the indie developer, Gaijin Studios), and more.

Awesome show!
Had this weird sense of deja vu like I already saw this episode......
Oh that's right, I did!
Japan is awesome and I can't wait till next week for a full episode!
Also, please get around to showing Kingdom Hearts on the DS and Brutal Legend!

Never got round to playing The Lost and the Damned, so have pre-ordered GTA Episodes, will be good to revisit Liberty City.

Was it just me or did the camera follow one girl just a little too long, couple of seconds more and you would have been in stalking territory ;)

Looking forward to hearing about Uncharted 2 next week.

@Al ... haha! That was actually Cesar's girlfriend walking in front of him trying to shield the camera so that the store owners didn't shut him down (which was happening a LOT while he was there). That doesn't really count as stalking ;)

@novato ... We won't be covering Brutal Legend, I'm sorry to say. They sponsored our trip to E3 and with that kind of benefit we really can't be objective about the game so we've had to cut it out of our schedule. Too bad, really, but it's better to preserve our integrity and take the hit on views.

@Sean ... thanks again man! What's your twitter again? I want to tweet about your script for our viewers :)

@mattc I'm on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/seanparsons - One day I'll get round to automating the script, which I should do tomorrow maybe.

You guys should put one of those donation thermometer thingies, so that way we can know how much money you still need to get. I donated a $100, but I would probably donate more if I could tangibly see its effect.

i like how even when you are taking a break you still put out an enjoyable episode, that's dedication! you got me all excited for my GTA Episodes preorder (i still have an old 360 hdd and didn't want to fill it with lost and the damned when it was only dlc) and i may have to check out super street fighter 4 when it comes out, i missed the boat on the original.

keep kicking ass, you are doing it marvelously

I'm impressed by that curry CoCo place, their menus are even in Portuguese. Okay, now I have a place to eat in Tokyo without knowing Japanese! :P

Lucky Cesar... I love Japanese curry :)

PLEASE PLEASE TALK ABOUT DEMON SOULS on your next episode.

"There's this whole other stratosphere where these guys are playing this game that's mostly happening in their brains . . ."

This discussion as to how accomplished players face off in SFIV is nothing short of poetry. I'd try to have Lopez on more. Discussions such as this elevate the discussion beyond the standard gaming journalism fare and explain why I keep coming back to your show. Can't wait for the next Season. Well done, guys!

Nice show, I've never see you guys before, but it wasn't a bad show at all, you can actually hold a conversation without reading a script. Tokyo definitely made me hungry, the menu looked awesome, especially the customization. As a game designer, I definitely feel like I need to kick things up a notch, get some cash, and take a trip over there. Thanks for the show, I'll check back again sometime.
