How you can participate in CO-OP Live! Or: CO-OP Live Premieres TODAY at 4PM PST/7PM EST
You know how people on the freeway always seem to let their foot off the gas as they drive by an accident as though they were in some morbid, cinematic slow-mo; trying to catch a glimpse of whatever carnage ensued moments before? “A few minutes earlier and it could have been me,” some of them must be saying to themselves, drifting slowly by, craning their necks like carrion birds…
This is NOT how CO-OP Live plans to begin its life. There are a million moving pieces to a live production and we’ve been rehearsing them all until they’re as solidly integrated as the blocks of the fucking pyramids. Things will still go wrong, but we can guarantee you that what you won’t be getting is some dues sitting on a couch talking at the camera for an hour. Yes, there will be some dudes sitting on the cough talking about video games, but bear with us, it’s not what you think.
So where do you come in? We’re going to have dedicated fan segments that are going to come near the end of our show or at specifically planned times. In order to keep things snappy, we’re going to be tied to a schedule with someone yelling in our ears (no, really, we’ll have things in our ears like TV anchor people, how groovy is that?) when our time to yap about a game is up. We’ll bring you in afterward to agree or disagree with us, so write down those thoughts ahead of time.
For our first show (SPOILER), we’re going to have a special musical guest. After the first performance, we’re going to sit down with said guest and have a quick fan segment where you can ask him questions. He’ll do another song to play himself out and then we’ll come back to a full fan segment where everything is fair game. Just don’t ask Ryan to dance. Ryan doesn’t dance. Unless he’s drunk. Then he dances AWESOME. If you’re not already, follow @COOP_live on Twitter. You don’t really have to follow our show Twitter to participate, though. Just use @COOP_live anywhere in your Twitter post and we’ll see it! Our hope is that Twitter will be easier to manage than a chat room and that since we can control the flow on the page we won’t have to worry about stuff scrolling off the page before we get a chance to read it. Be patient with us, though, as there was no way to test this part of the show beforehand to any real capacity and it’s going to take us some time to get it running all swimmingly. All question and comments are welcome, but lame ones will be ignored.
Here’s a summary of the details”
- Bookmark http://revision3.com/co-op
- The show starts at 4PM PST/7PM EST SHARP!
- Tweet to @COOP_live during our fan segments to get in on the act
- If you miss the show, it will be recorded and put out on the regular iTunes feed later tonight.
Lastly but not least-ly, we’re going to need your help! We hate lame shit as much as you do and CO-OP Live CANNOT be lame shit! Tell us what you think is awesome and want more of and what you think is terrible and want less of. We couldn’t have gotten this far without you and without you there’s no future for our show. Thank you, and enjoy (*crosses fingers*)!

Just want to wish you guys good luck and I hope everything runs smoothly!
Best of luck with the show guys ^_^
Just wondering that when you are giving the times for the live show can you give the time in GMT as well so that your European fans can check it out too ^_^
Best of luck!
I won't be joining you for the real deal, but I'll be watching first thing in the morning; you're on from 1AM here in the Netherlands.
I really can't wait to see how this grand experiment works! I'm very excited for the show, guys.
So if we come back here (Area 5 site) will we be able to watch the show live, or do we have to be on the Revision3 website? I'm actually not going to be able to make it personally, but I think a clarification would be nice.
Super looking forward to this! Only an hour and a half left till showtime!
Great job guys, 1000+ viewers! Awesome.
Great job guys :)
I don't think it could have been better for a first time! I'll join twitter for next time. The music performance was excellent! Loved the fan questions! Hopefully you guys can go through more games though in the future.
*sploosh* *APPLAUSE FROM AUDIENCE YAAAAAAAAYYYY* :D
FUCK YEEEAAAAAAH I LOOVE COAWWWWWP!
Fucking great 1st live show! Really dug the music segment, gonna have to look up some of Mann's stuff. Keep up the great work fellas!
BGM during a live show is hilarious and awesome. I play Rob's "Good Rap" on a boombox myself when I'm walking down the street. It reminds the world who's boss. Why did you dudes abandon the 1up Show BGM?
I don't think I've ever seen split-screen attempted live. Screw the haters - splits-screen is great.
Damn, screwed the time zone thing completely and missed it. Will look for the download version.
I really like the idea of those pre-edited live segments, where you present and interpret favorite in-game moments of retro or actual titles.
That would be very refreshing. Ryan mentioned that during the "Fan Time" ;)
What would you think about two minutes for a pre-show meet and greet with the audience on the stream? Could create a more fluidly transition into the talks and a comfy appearance for the new format.
And if you seek to show up a bigger crowd for a talk it would be nice to have some kind of driving moderation. Don't get me wrong.
I want lively conversation with open conclusions for everyone, but a agile acting connection between different attitudes is helpful.
Just my kind of thought.
Congrats to the first CO-OP Live!
Sgt. Laggy deemed to show his muscles at the beginning, but after 6-7 minutes the connection was getting stable.
At least fo me here in mid-europe.
Can't wait to next week.
Really great first live-show!
Still can't belive that you guys managed to pull it off in such a high quality (visual style and content). Not that I don't think you would be capable to do so ;).
And to the whole Coop-live team: Keep up the good work and I hope to see you next Tuesday!
Damn, it's already 3 am here in Germany. I should go to bed now... :D
Good first show guys.
I did also see some Lag during the first 6-7 minutes in the US.
See ya next week.
I never miss a show, but I doubt I'll be able to tune in often for the actual live recording. Please tell me you're planning to still have it available for download. Thanks.
Can't wait for the download. Didn't get to watch live and can't watch the stream right now.
Dam it!
WHy did it have to be on tuesday at 4?
I missed it!
I'll watch it later tonight!
People are saying it was good so I hope they are right.
God speed.
Where did you get the awesome painting?
Great Show COOP!.........Live?
That leaves a weird taste in my mouth when I say it......
Anyway, I think the show is great, loved the performance by Jonnathan, and I'm happy that you addressed some of the problems that you're going to face in the future.
Keep it up!
@Matt
P.S. the crappy anime jokes can go away now. You don't need to change too much :)
Also, you need to incorporate, more to the background. Whenever the camera pulls out, the black background around the tiny, set looks very bad and needs to be fixed. Add more set and try to get less black background!
Just wanted to chime in and say that watching you guys do the show live was awesome. I had this smile on my face the whole time from this feeling of experiencing something totally new and awesome. Like playing GTA3 for the first time or seeing the series finale for The Wire or something. Absolutely fantastic :D Literally felt like giving a high-five to you guys through the monitor at the end. Can't wait for next week :)
I only saw the 1st 10 minutes, because of my countries terrible internet, and I couldn't seem to change it to lower resolution, it was stuck on High.
Any chance on making this optional? Because what I saw I loved.
Great first live show you guys. Don't worry to much at being "on", you guys have the best comments about a video game then any videogame host here in the Netherlands. Can't see the show live because of the time difference thats a shame, I've gotta get up early every morning.
Love the show and keep up doing what you guys do.
Salutations to y all.
Job well done guys! Just like the poster above me, I can't tune in live because I live in The Netherlands as well but I just watched the recorded broadcast and you guys really pulled it off! Just to let you know, I was a bit sceptic when I first read about going live, but I can see this going very well.
I'm glad split-screens are going to come back eventually, that would be awesome in a live-setting. I really liked the live music-performance, since 1UP there's always been a connection with good original music. To see that live (and read the chords!) is really nice, it might even become another outlet for bands.
One thing I think could improve a little bit is the lighting or colours, I'm not sure if that's just a live thing but the colours seemed a bit 'colder' with many blue and gray tones. I'm sure this was something that is instantly noticeable because we're used to the vibrant and pre-edited format.
Anyway, really looking forward to the recording of next week. I hope you guys can get those mobile-games segments back in there again, hopefully be able combine it with the eventual possibility to do live-broadcasting outside as well. Those mobile-games segments we're really good and unique, 'cause I haven't seen as much professional coverage anywhere else.
Good luck with the next episode!
Great job, guys. You guys kept the conversation and general flow of the show going. That's what the rehearsals are for? I'll miss seeing beers in your hands during talks, but I'm excited for what CO-OP Live will bring.
This experience made me think of a childhood favourite: Video and Arcade Top 10.

Ingenious!!! a videocast, your opinions are spoken with such vehemance that you truly are the only viable place to go to for reviews, you sold me my copy of AC2 with that show special, your rebelfm podcast sold me Mass Effect 1 and 2, your impressions truly overide the benefits of most PR and advertising campaigns, I'm basically saying that the only way I wanted the show to improve was to have more, and this videocast seems to achieve this, I wanted roundtable discussions with video footage . Anyways keep up the great work, and from the words of Ryan OD, for the changes made much like how he would kiss Bioware in the mouth I would do the same to cO-OP (Don't hold me to that though ;)).
Good show. I only got to see the first half cause I had to leave during the middle.
Not a great episode if I am to be honest, but as your first live show it was a good effort. It has all the hallmarks of something that will turn into something great show once you all get used to the "Liveness" of it :D
I am not in a position to watch live but I always tune in to watch the show each week. Keep up the good work guys, looking forward to next week's episode.
I really wished you guys would offer a feed for the podcast through a normal RSS or a Zune Marketplace download as I have a zune and can't subscribe to you guys because you only offer a iTunes feed.
Hi guys. I've been a fan of your shows since I started watching the third-to-last 1up show (I hardly new ye!). Of course I went back and watched a ton of the earlier stuff too. Anyway the Co-op Live format is a great idea, makes the show even more lively and spontaneous. One piece of advice I would give is that, if you look at some other web shows, even many other Revision3 shows, they make a good portion of eye contact with the camera. When you're talking to each other during the discussion, it's not as important, and can be more sparse. For the parts where you speak directly to the audience, I think directing it to the camera bit more would feel right. All that said, the content of this first show was totally solid, and when you boil it down that's what matters most. I couldn't imagine a better review to kick it off than the one you did.
I posted in the wrong thread. Great. ^^^ above comment was meant fore the ep 101 thread. /facepalm
Great live show!!!! Just one question, will you guys ever put up a clock or countdown timer to have an idea of at what time your show starts? Because as someone from Europe thats completely unfamiliar with American timezones, I still dont have a clue at what time yourshow starts in my country (Belgium).
