THE ULTIMATE, FAN-MADE, 1UP SHOW BOX SET

We were relieved to find out that the shoe box sent to us earlier this week did NOT contain a decomposing cat:

Instead we opened the case to find 45 amazingly well-mastered 1UP Show DVD’s, courtesy of Dana Laratta, an incredibly dedicated 1UP Show/Broken Pixels/CO-OP viewer whom (like many of our fans) we owe an incredible debt of gratitude.

You know, working in an industry where release dates dictate our production schedule, it’s easy to forget the work we did four weeks ago let alone four years ago. These DVD’s serve as a great reminder of all the wonderful people we met, games we played, and times we had while making the 1UP Show. Suddenly, sitting in those busted cubicles, watching Jason getting body-slammed by Mielke for being an unruly intern doesn’t seem like that long ago.

Thanks Dana :)

PS. Unfortunately we don’t have the rights to sell the DVD box set, but I’m sure if you talk to Dana, you guys can work “something” out… if you make it “worth his while…” I’m talking about “SEX.”

Memories! I remember it was like my second week at 1UP when they yanked me into the conference room to take pics for the opening of the 4th season. Consequently the last project I ever worked on was the opening of the 9th season. *tear*

Thats so awesome Dana!

Wow. I miss 1up...some days when I go to all of the sites that have the remnants of the staff I used to adore...it kinda feels like my family got separated. I watch Co-op a lot (sadly I do miss a couple episodes here and there) I listen to Rebel FM every week, I go to GameSpy, G4, the new 1up, Bitmob, and I really am looking forward to the new EGM. But it still will never be like back in the day when I had all of you guys on one website.

I want--no I NEED this box set like now. Where does a dude find all the episodes for download anyway?

I don't know who Dana is unfortunately, but that is straight badass. I loved the 1UP show and the work you guys did. I still get kinda freaked out by Matt's interview show. I realized I don't know anything about fighters after that episode, but I'm glad somebody is passionate enough to be pissed about something when they truly feel like something they love is being messed with.

BTW, please tell me you are covering Perfect Dark later this month when it releases.

@Dana, I need those episodes!!!!!

You can't watch them on 1up because tthey won't update the video for the 1up show to the new quality....

Where can i get them, and do you have the 1up special about the 2008 comic con event involving a crappy robot costume and an old staff member........?

Man, I miss the old format :( I can't stand the live show, and have sadly unsubscribed. Hope to see a revival some time in the future :) Still love you guys!

Funny things is I originally started burning these to DVD just because I didn't have a computer fast enough to play back the 1up Show in good enough quality. Before long, I was really enjoying being able to just sit back and "play all" a whole evening of you guys' awesome work.

Now I download and watch Co-op and Co-op Live right on my PS3, and I'm not sure DVD would do justice to the high-res work. You guys need to release the new stuff on blu-ray!

This was a thank you for all you've done, and really just involved burning copies of disks I have and enjoy myself (well, okay maybe I did go the extra mile ordering cases and printing the labels). But all the celebration goes to you guys. It's all work worthy of living on, ya know.

Cheers.

Don't worry, that decomposing cat I sent you should be arriving shortly.

I'm a bit of a sad 1-UP show fanatic myself. I downloaded every episode and still occasionally watch them to this day. No DVD's; got them all on USB Hard drive and view them on my WDTV HD streamer. I made cover art(folder thumbnails) for every season and thumbnails for each episode - which are those episode-informant little white screens at the start of each episode.

Hope it's ok to post links? Here's the links to the old episodes - http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3145462
Click 'Watch Now' and you can download them from there.

I've downloaded and redownloaded the 1UP Show for years - you know how it goes with hard drive space. I've probably seen most episodes of the first 3-4 seasons 15+ times. When TSHTF in Jan 09, I grabbed all the highest quality video I could like everyone else - you never know. The only reason I came to know about 1up at all was from a promo with Jane on the codec with "Solid snake". What I liked about the 1UP Show was how they tried to include everyone, and their hilariously arbitrary narrative conceits. I don't get to play a lot of games anymore, but I felt welcomed by the 1UP Show and it was a great highlight of my week during some not-so-great times.

And by the way - the original background music to the 1UP Show WAS THE SHIT.

I'm so mad I deleted them all because I needed to save space on my old computer. :( All of the episodes were so amazing

I just want that one episode where Jay Fresh is put in charge and turns into the most threatening boss ever! It was awesome!

You may not have the right to sell them, but don't you have the right to give them away for free? :)

What I figure is I have the right to make copies of free content that I just happen to have made into DVD-Video, if folks can help me out with cost of materials. I'm not looking to get in trouble, but anything to help the show live on is cool with me. A few folks have emailed me, just hold on while I calc up the costs of making these things and I'll mail back.

Also, I'd best amend the record (having shown my wife this page) to state that I'm covered, when it comes to SEX!

A job, however, is a whole other matter entirely... especially if it can be somehow involved with gaming. Thx.
